About Us

About

Healthy Gators is a coalition of students, faculty and staff from across the University of Florida community working together to create a healthier campus. The Healthy Gators Coalition supports the assessment of the health status and needs of the campus community, supports the development of health-enhancing policies on campus, makes recommendations about campus health priorities, raises awareness and increases access to health services and programming.

Mission

Healthy Gators champions holistic wellbeing for all members of the University of Florida community.

History

First developed in the early 2000s, the Healthy Gators Coalition, chaired by UF Former First Lady Chris Machen, assembled key campus leaders, researchers, and students dedicated to promoting a campus environment supportive of health and wellbeing.

Originally identified as Healthy Gators 2010, the coalition focused on Healthy Campus objectives created every decade and tied to the national health goals and objectives of Healthy People.

Today we continue to support campus health and wellness through a holistic approach incorporating eight dimensions of wellness:

  • Physical
  • Emotional
  • Social
  • Spiritual
  • Environmental
  • Financial
  • Intellectual
  • Occupational
